iPhone SE packaging (Generation 2, (PRODUCT)RED, 64GB, 2020)

Apple says that iPhone SE Generation 2 is “The Most Affordable iPhone Features A13 Bionic, the Fastest Chip in a Smartphone, and the Best Single-Camera System in an iPhone.”

According to Apple’s press release, the iPhone SE Generation 2 is:

“a powerful new iPhone featuring a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, paired with Touch ID for industry-leading security. iPhone SE comes in a compact design, reinvented from the inside out…The new iPhone SE is powered by the Apple-designed A13 Bionic, the fastest chip in a smartphone, to handle the most demanding tasks. iPhone SE also features the best single-camera system ever in an iPhone, which unlocks the benefits of computational photography including Portrait mode, and is designed to withstand the elements with dust and water resistance.”

This iPhone SE was offered in three colors: black, white, and (PRODUCT)RED. This product packaging is from the (PRODUCT)RED model.

iPod nano (Generation 4, 8GB, (PRODUCT)RED, 2008)

Replacing the “squat” design of the Generation 3, the iPod nano Generation 4 (model A1285) returned to a “skinny” design similar to its predecessors. The new wraparound curved aluminum and glass case was offered in an unprecedented nine colors: silver, black, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, pink, and (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition. The display was a wide-format 2-inch (diagonal) color LCD display at 320×240.

The iPod nano Generation 4 used Click Wheel navigation and had either 8 GB or 16 GB of flash memory, capable of storing 2000 or 4000 songs, 7000 or 14,000 photos, and 8 hours or 16 hours of video.

Apple indicated that “You can distinguish the iPod nano (4th generation) from previous iPod nano models by:”

  • Its taller screen
  • Its curved surface
  • Its oval shape when seen from the top or bottom
  • The inclusion of an accelerometer that is used by the Shake feature

The iPod nano Generation 4 included an accelerometer (automatically switched to “Cover Flow” navigation in landscape orientation), games and videos only played in landscape, a new Genius feature to dynamically create playlists, and shake-to-shuffle for songs. Accessibility options were added including larger text and spoken menu items. It also included Nike+iPod support, FM radio tagging (using the Apple Radio Remote), support for audio crossfade, and games including Maze, Klondike, and Vortex.

Smart Cover for 9.7-inch iPad ((PRODUCT)RED, 2017)

Apple described the Smart Cover for 9.7-inch iPad:

“The Smart Cover for iPad is constructed from a single piece of polyurethane to protect the front of your device. It automatically wakes your iPad when opened and puts it to sleep when closed. You can easily fold the Smart Cover into different positions to create a stand for reading, viewing, typing, or making FaceTime calls. And it’s easy to remove, so you can snap it on and off whenever you want.”

iPad Smart Covers were first offered with the iPad 2 in 2011 and are still available as of 2023. All Smart Covers offer protection only for the front of the iPad, attach magnetically to the side, and use magnets to wake and sleep the device. Smart Covers use a 3-fold design that, when folded, allows the iPad to be used as a stand in two different positions.

This Smart Cover is compatible with iPad models including iPad Air 2, iPad Air (1st generation), iPad (6th generation), and iPad (5th generation). The color of this cover is (PRODUCT)RED.

According to Apple’s website, “Apple and (RED) are committed to fighting AIDS. In 16 years, we’ve contributed more than a quarter of a billion dollars, helping provide lifesaving treatments to people living with HIV.”

iPhone XR ((PRODUCT)RED, 2018)

Apple’s press release for the iPhone XR led with, “Featuring A12 Bionic Chip, 6.1-Inch Liquid Retina Display, Aluminum and Glass Design in Six Beautiful Finishes, Face ID and Advanced Camera System”

The iPhone XR, pronounced “ten-R” was released along with the iPhone XS and XS Max. According to MacRumors, the XR model shares hardware with the XS models, but features were removed and/or downgraded to reduce the price of the XR.

The six available colors included (PRODUCT)RED, Yellow, White, Coral, Black, and Blue. The iPhone XR was available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB capacities. It measured 2.98 inches (75.7 mm) x 5.94 inches (150.9 mm), and was 0.33 inch (8.3 mm) thick. It weighed 6.84 ounces (194 grams). This is a (PRODUCT)RED model with 64GB of storage.

The Liquid Retina HD display measured 6.1 inches (diagonal) with 1792 x 828-pixel resolution (at 326ppi). The iPhone XR was powered by the A12 Bionic chip with a second-generation Neural Engine.

The primary back camera was 12 Megapixels with up to 5x digital zoom. Its features included Portrait mode with advanced bokeh and Depth Control, Portrait Lighting (Natural, Studio, Contour), Optical image stabilization, Panorama (up to 63MP), Autofocus, and Smart HDR. It could record video at up to 4K video (at 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps). The front had a TrueDepth Camera at 7 Megapixels with features including Portrait mode with advanced bokeh and Depth Control, Portrait Lighting (Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, High-Key Mono), and allowed the use of Animoji and Memoji.

Its six sensors included Face ID, barometer, 3‑axis gyro, accelerometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. It originally shipped with iOS 14, and it included a USB-C to Lightning Cable.

Apple Watch Sport Band (45mm, Stainless Steel Pin, (PRODUCT)RED, 2020)

The Apple Watch Sport Band was made from a flexible rubber material called fluoroelastomer with a metal pin closure. Sizes ranged from S/M, M/L, or L/XL. When purchasing an Apple Watch Sport Band, the S/M and M/L sizes are included in the box, allowing the band to fit wrists 140–210 mm.

Apple describes the Apple Watch Sport band:

“Made from a custom high-performance fluoroelastomer, the Sport Band is durable and strong, yet surprisingly soft. The smooth, dense material drapes elegantly across your wrist and feels comfortable next to your skin. An innovative pin-and-tuck closure ensures a clean fit.”

The Apple Watch Sport band has been available in the most colors so far. As of October 2022, 117 Apple Sport Band colors were available with an additional 41 Nike Sport Band colors (according to the Bandbreite app).

This example is Red with a stainless steel pin and is part of Apple’s (PRODUCT)RED line. The box states, “Apple is proud to join (RED) in funding programs to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.”

iPhone 13 Pro Silicone Case with MagSafe ((PRODUCT)RED, 2021)

The iPhone 13 Pro Silicone Case was “Designed by Apple to complement iPhone 13 Pro, the Silicone Case with MagSafe is a delightful way to protect your iPhone. The silky, soft-touch finish of the silicone exterior feels great in your hand. And on the inside, there’s a soft microfiber lining for even more protection.”

The case also included MagSafe magnets that extended the functionality of MagSafe built into the iPhone through the case. Apple described the functionality:

“With built-in magnets that align perfectly with iPhone 13 Pro, this case offers a magical attach experience and faster wireless charging, every time. When it’s time to charge, just leave the case on your iPhone and snap on your MagSafe charger, or set it on your Qi-certified charger.”

This iPhone 13 Pro Silicone Case is red and part of Apple’s (PRODUCT)RED line of products. In 2021–2022, Apple changed the (PRODUCT)RED statement to include the support of COVID-19: “Every (PRODUCT)RED purchase contributes equally to the fight to end AIDS and its impact from COVID-19.” Additional information specified that “A portion of the proceeds from every (PRODUCT)RED purchase goes to the Global Fund to fight AIDS with (RED). From now until December 31, 2022, half of those proceeds will go to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the fight to end AIDS.”

Apple Watch Sport Loop (45 mm, (PRODUCT)RED, Fall 2021)

The Apple Watch Sport Loop band was woven from nylon thread to create a hook-and-loop closure. These bands were available for the 41 mm and 45 mm Apple Watch models, and were offered in sizes to fit 130–200 mm wrists (41 mm) and 145–220 mm wrists (45 mm). The bands also fit older Apple Watch sizes.

This (PRODUCT)RED band used a two-tone design first introduced on Fall 2021. One stripe was dark red and the other was a bright red with edges in a shade of orange (dark cantelope). The connector and closure plastics were dark red.

Apple described the Apple Watch Sport Loop band:

“Soft, breathable, and lightweight, the Sport Loop features a hook-and-loop fastener for quick and easy adjustment. The double-layer nylon weave has dense loops on the skin side that provide soft cushioning while allowing moisture to escape. On the reverse side, the attachment loops are securely anchored for superior durability.”

The packaging specified that “Apple is proud to join (RED) in funding programs to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.”

Apple Watch Solo Loop (44 mm, Size 12, (PRODUCT)RED, 2020)

The Solo Loop Apple Watch band was released in 2020 along with the Apple Watch Series 6. The packaging describes this product as a “Silicone Fitted Band.” According to Apple’s website:

“Made from liquid silicone rubber, the Solo Loop features a unique, stretchable design with no clasps, buckles, or overlapping parts that’s ultracomfortable to wear and easy to slip on and off your wrist. Each band is specially treated with UV to give the band a silky, smooth finish. It’s also swim proof and sweat proof so it can go just about anywhere you want to wear it.”

This band is red and part of Apple’s (PRODUCT)RED line of products that funds “programs to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS.” It was available in 40 mm and 44 mm widths, and was among the first Apple Watch bands to be sold in specific wrist sizes. The 40 mm Solo Loop was sold in wrist sizes 1–9 and the 44 mm Solo Loop was sold in wrist sizes 4–12.

This red Solo Loop is paired with an Apple Watch Series 6 in red aluminum.

According to Apple’s website, “This band comes in custom sizes because it’s designed for an ultracomfortable fit. An accurate measurement will help you get the size that’s right for you.” The website allowed buyers to download a PDF and cut out a “tool” that wrapped around the wrist to designate the band size needed.

This snug-fitting design allowed Apple Watch sensors to retain constant and consistent skin contact, allowing accurate blood oxygen and heart rate measurements to be maintained.

AirTag Leather Key Ring ((PRODUCT)RED, 2021)

The AirTag Leather Key Ring was designed to contain an Apple AirTag, a small, disc-shaped accessory that uses Apple’s Find My network to easily locate items. 

According to Apple:

“The leather key ring is thoughtfully crafted from the finest materials. The stainless steel is as striking as it is strong, while the European leather is specially tanned and soft to the touch. And it fits snugly over your AirTag, so you never have to worry about it falling out… When you buy the (PRODUCT)RED AirTag Leather Key Ring, we will now send a contribution to the Global Fund to fight COVID-19. Your support can make all the difference.”

When The AirTag was released, “a wide range of Apple-designed AirTag accessories” were also available. Accessories included: a Polyurethane Loop, a Leather Loop, and a Leather Key Ring. In addition, Apple and Hermès introduced the AirTag Hermès with an “assortment of handcrafted leather accessories including the Bag Charm, Key Ring, Travel Tag, and Luggage Tag.” The Hermès accessories were sold with a custom-engraved AirTag with the Hermès Clou de Selle logo.

The The AirTag Leather Key Ring was originally available in three colors including Baltic Blue, Saddle Brown, and (PRODUCT)RED. This example is in (PRODUCT)RED and contains an original AirTag.

The Apple Watch Sport Loop band was woven from nylon thread to create a hook-and-loop closure. These bands were available for the 38/40mm and 42/44mm Apple Watch models, and were offered in sizes to fit 130–200mm wrists (40mm) and 145–220mm wrists (44mm).

This PRODUCT(RED) band used two base colors of red and violet (with red accents). Both edges were accented in bright red. The plastic connectors and closure were red. As of 2021 Three Sport Loop PRODUCT(RED) designs had been released. This version is Generation 2.

Apple described the Apple Watch Sport Loop band:

Now through June 30, Apple is working with (RED) to redirect 100 percent of eligible proceeds from (PRODUCT)RED purchases to the Global Fund’s COVID‑19 Response. This will provide critical support to health systems most threatened by the outbreak and, in turn, help preserve lifesaving HIV/AIDS programs in sub-Saharan Africa.”
