Apple Watch Leather Loop (44mm, Peacock, Spring 2020)

The Apple Watch Leather Loop band is comprised of leather-wrapped magnets. The band was sold in two sizes, Medium for 150–185 mm wrists and Large for 180–210 mm wrists. They were available for both the 38/40 mm and 42/44 mm Apple Watch models.

The Leather Loop band was among Apple’s original band designs in 2015. Apple describes the Apple Watch Leather Loop band:

“The Venezia leather for this band is handcrafted in Arzignano, Italy. With an artisan heritage spanning five generations, the tannery has a history of partnership with some of the most prestigious names in fashion. A delicate milling and tumbling process enhances the beautiful pebbled texture. And magnets concealed within the soft, quilted leather allow you to simply wrap it around your wrist for a precise fit and a trim look.”

The Peacock band is a dark shade of blue green. This style uses no mechanical fasteners that might potentially scratch a surface.

AirTag Loop (Capri Blue, 2021)

The AirTag Loop was released in April 2021 along with the AirTag. Apple described the AirTag as “a small and elegantly designed accessory that helps keep track of and find the items that matter most with Apple’s Find My app.”

Apple’s press release described this product as the Polyurethane Loop: “The Apple-designed Polyurethane Loop is both lightweight and durable, and fits securely around AirTag.” As of September 2021, the website simply referred to this product as the “AirTag Loop” (a similar product was called the “Apple Leather Loop”).

Apple described the AirTag Loop product:

“Both lightweight and durable, the loop is made from polyurethane and securely fastens your AirTag to your items. The enclosure fits tightly around your AirTag to ensure that it stays put, so you can keep track of whatever it’s attached to. AirTag is sold separately.”

This example is Capri blue, a shade of medium blue.

AirTag Leather Loop (PRODUCT)RED (2021)

The AirTag Leather Loop was an accessory for Apple’s AirTag, a small, disc-shaped accessory that used Apple’s Find My network to easily locate items. Apple described AirTag as “a supereasy way to keep track of your stuff. Attach one to your keys, slip another in your backpack. And just like that, they’re on your radar in the Find My app.” 

The AirTag Leather Loop was made from “specially tanned European leather” and added “an extra touch of elegance…” Apple further added, “It stays firmly attached while securing your AirTag tightly in place, so you always know where your items are. AirTag is sold separately.”

This leather loop is in red and part of Apple’s (PRODUCT)RED offerings:

“When you buy the (PRODUCT)RED AirTag Leather Loop, we will now send a contribution to the Global Fund to fight COVID-19. Your support can make all the difference.”

Apple Watch Sport Loop (44 mm, Flash Light, Spring 2018)

The Apple Watch Sport Loop band is woven from nylon thread to create a hook-and-loop closure. They were available for the 38/40mm and 42/44mm Apple Watch models, and were offered in sizes to fit 130–190mm wrists.

Apple described the Apple Watch Sport Loop band:

“Soft, breathable, and lightweight, the Sport Loop features a hook-and-loop fastener for quick and easy adjustment. The double-layer nylon weave has dense loops on the skin side that provide soft cushioning while allowing moisture to escape. On the reverse side, the attachment loops are securely anchored for superior durability.”

This Flash Light Sport Loop has an overall bright yellow-green appearance. It’s name includes “Light” to differentiate it from a previous Apple Sport Loop color called “Flash,” released in Fall 2017. The original Flash Sport Loop featured bright yellow edges and plastics, but included black thread woven into the center creating a dark yellow appearance, while “Flash Light” consisted only of the light and bright yellow-green hues.

This Flash Light Sport Loop is paired with an Apple Watch Series 7 in silver stainless steel.

AirTag Loop (Electric Orange, 2021)

Remote Loop (2015)

The Remote Loop is an accessory for the Siri Remote, Apple’s remote for the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD. When the Apple TV HD (Generation 4) was released with support for games, the Siri Remote included motion sensors for use in some games.

As the Nintendo Wii demonstrated, TV screen safety became an issue when the controller’s motion sensors require swinging a remote at the TV. Apple created the Remote Loop to keep you TV screen safe. According to Apple:

“The Remote Loop keeps your Siri Remote safely tethered to your wrist so you won’t have to worry about accidental slips or drops. It clicks into the Lightning connector on the remote for secure attachment and easy removal. And you can adjust the size for a snug and secure fit. The Remote Loop is compatible with the Siri Remote for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.”

The Remote Loop sold separately and was similar to the iPod touch Loop. However, the Remote Loop uses a connector similar to a Lightning port, but with retracting spikes on both sides. The spikes serve to securely attach the loop to the remote and are released by squeezing the buttons on both sides. A similar connection method was used in early 30-pin Apple connectors that shipped with iPod and early iPhone devices.

The Remote Loop measures 8.68 inches long, 0.36 inch wide, and 0.22 inch deep. It weighs 0.1 ounce. The Remote Loop was only available in black.

iPod touch (Generation 5, space gray, 2014)

The iPod touch Generation 5 featured a new design from previous models. It was thinner, smaller, and available in space gray (dark gray back with a black glass front), and silver, pink, yellow, blue, and red (color back with a white glass front). The back of the case included a spring-loaded protruding metal circle that allowed an iPod touch loop wrist strap to be attached. The iPod touch loop shipped with the 32 and 64 GB models, but not this 16 GB model.

The iPod touch Generation 5 had a 4-inch Retina Display (1136×640 at 326 ppi). Its rear camera was a 5-megapixel iSight camera with and LED flash that could record video at 1080p. The front-facing 1.2-megapixel FaceTime HD camera could record video at 720p. Wireless connections included Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and it allowed AirPlay.

This iPod touch used a 1 GHz dual-core A5 processor with 512 MB of RAM. Internal storage options included 16, 32, or 64 GB. It could run iOS 9.3.5 and supported Siri.

iPod touch Loop (yellow, 2012)

The iPod touch Loop is a custom wristband that shipped with iPod touch Generation 5 models with a capacity above 16 GB. The included iPod touch Loop matched the color of the iPod touch: black (shipped with the slate and later Space Gray models), white (shipped with the silver model), pink, yellow, blue, and red.

For owners of the 16 GB iPod touch Generation 5—or for anyone who wanted to customize their iPod touch—the Loop could also be purchased separately in packs of two including one color (pink, yellow, black, blue, or red) and one white Loop for $9.

The iPod touch Loop attached to a pop-out nub on the lower-left-back corner of the iPod touch. This pop-out nub was unique to the iPod touch Generation 5. The back of the packaging shows an excellent diagram of the installation of the Loop.

When I acquired a 16 GB Generation 5 iPod touch and noticed its pop-out nub, I immediately began looking for an iPod touch Loop to accompany it. I found this one on eBay from a German seller in 2020. I selected the “yellow” option because its unusual shade seems more green to my eye than yellow.
