This Documentary Resource CD was a companion to an Apple Distinguished Educator book from 2004, Stories Worth Telling: A Guide to Creating Student-Led Documentaries. The student featured on the front of the CD packaging is the same female student featured on the cover of the book.
The book authors are Mary Palmer (English Teacher) and Perry Lee (Social Studies Teacher), from Central High School in Bismarck, North Dakota.
This wooden block features a black Apple logo on one side and contains a colored pencil set with a built-in pencil sharpener. The wood block is 4×3.5 inches and is nearly 1 inch thick (15/16-inch). It contains 12 colored pencils that fit perfectly into 12 holes drilled into the wood block.
This is one of several unique Apple-logo products that was available at The Company Store located in the Infinite Loop Campus (1 Infinite Loop). Around the time that Apple moved to the “spaceship” campus, a new Visitor Center was built near the new campus and The Company Store was closed and replaced by more standard Apple Store.
The Visitor Center sells a few Apple logo items, but the selection is small.
Claris describes itself as “a subsidiary of Apple Inc.” The company began in 1987 as a software company Apple “spun off” to make software for the Apple II and eventually the Macintosh. In 1988 Claris purchased a popular database program FileMaker Inc. In 1998 Claris changed its name to FileMaker and returned its popular ClarisWorks product to Apple (changing the product’s name to AppleWorks). In 2019, FileMaker Inc. went back to the Claris name by rebranding as Claris International.
ClarisWorks for Kids was released in 1997. It had similar features as ClarisWorks, but with a simplified interface aimed at early elementary school students.
This pencil features the ClarisWorks for Kids logo, characters, and a bright yellow eraser. I have seven of these pencils in my collection.

The Apple Store at Old Orchard in Skokie, Illinois, was among the first Apple Stores. It opened on Friday, November 7, 2003. MacWorld reported, “As is customary when a new Apple Store opens for business, the first 1,000 people to visit get a free Apple T-shirt to commemorate the trip.”
I attended this store opening and received this white shirt with a blue Apple logo and the words Old Orchard in the Myriad Apple font in light gray. The shirt is in its original packaging.
The original Old Orchard Store closed and a new location opened on September 28, 2019.
